I first fell in love with the Audi TT Coupe’ at the Birmingham Motor Show back in 1998 - and ever since I have often found my mind turning to her sweeping curves; her cute bottom.

Now I’m standing beside her - she’s mine for the day; my heart pounds a little faster, palms moist - I rub them down my jumper. She’s extraordinary - every bit as exciting and charismatic as I remember. Her short overhangs, a big wheel at each corner, her crouched stance.

My breath quickens as I climb aboard, the solid clunk of her door filling my ears - immediately my eyes are drawn to her exquisite interior detailing - the scent of her leather drawing into my lungs. I close my eyes for a moment, take a long deep breath, trying to compose myself. Her seats mould themselves to me - cosset me - I open my eyes and take a look around - the matt aluminium almost glints a welcome to me from the centre of the steering wheel and out along the dash-board. The gear knob and door grab handles are similarly themed, the foot peddles are all in perforated stainless steel with rubber studs inset for grip.

She insists I make the first move. With a twist of the key her crisp engine burbles into life - from outside I thought the shallow glass area may impede my vision, but in here behind the wheel the view is first class.

The Audi TT Coupe’ began life as a conceptual design study which was first unveiled at the 1995 Frankfurt Motor Show. The astonishing enthusiasm it generated prompted the decision to ready the car for the road.

Two versions are available, both featuring the famous Quattro four-wheel-drive system and powered by either a 180bhp or 225bhp version of Audi’s turbo-charged 1.8-litre engine - in a word - ‘a projectile’!

On the road she behaves every bit as her sensational looks had promised. Taut and agile on every road surface - with little body roll through the corners even when going fast, her ride sportingly firm yet comfortable. Steering is a delight with just enough weight without losing precision. This turbo-charged engine may not attack the ears with the rortiness of sports cars from the past, but it delivers the power so effectively you have to do little to make this car fly.

The real beauty of the TT Coupe’ is how competent, safe and civilised she is while all the time - I’m speechless - Love Struck!
