FOLLOW YOUR PASSION
‘Aspire to greatness. Each of us is going to travel
the road of life’s adventure only once, but once is
enough if you do it right.’ J. Warren McClure.
Are you enjoying yourself? Do you feel you are getting the most out of life and that you’re on the right path to achieving everything you’ve ever dreamed of? Or do you feel life’s become a little routine, boring, or maybe a bit of a worry.
At some point in our lives we start asking those bigger, deeper questions; wanting answers to ‘why am I here? or what am I supposed to be doing that I’m not doing at this moment?’
Perhaps you haven’t reached the time when considering these age-old questions has become an issue, or maybe you have asked, but considered the answers an impossible dream. However when you do, it’s because you’re not following your passions, your desires - your true calling.
Your mind is used to seeing things the way they are, it’s in its comfort zone, it doesn’t want to change because it’s secure where it is.
Each of us wants something different from life, we all have a calling to something specific that turns us on, creates excitement and enthusiasm for life and living. It may be something similar to someone you know or someone you love; but the way in which YOU perceive it, approach it, or believe in it – the benefits YOU gain and ultimately the exact nature of that calling, is very different; it’s unique!
Those not following their dreams are unfortunately common place in the society we find ourselves. Governments the world over ensure we’re kept busy, focused on none other than scratching around trying to survive from one day to the next.
They do this by cramming fear of the future into our psyche. If you ask anyone in our Western society whether they thought they are free, most would answer without hesitation – ‘yes of course I am.’
But most of us in all reality are not free, and it’s our self proclaimed masters that are guilty. They carefully create a society that largely suppresses the population, and ensures an environment where the average person works for a living in a job they either actively dislike, or at best only tolerate. They barely earn enough to live comfortably and securely – their outgoings matching or exceeding their income most of the time, ensuring the inevitable drift into dependence on the banking system and the disease called credit cards and debt.
These burdens alone ensure an unchanging lifestyle for so many, always just keeping the tip of their noses above water, locking them into a solid freedom-stifling system of living - preventing them from exploring their fullness, their maximum potential and living the joyous life they deserve. It stops them thinking for themselves, because it’s too scary contemplating the consequences of losing their job and creating more stress and indebtedness that they have already.
When you’re not centred, when you’re not following your heart; your true calling, you find an air of agitation pervades your soul, you may be bored, frustrated and irritable. So what does it mean to follow your calling, and how on earth do you know if you are?
Take a look at your current life, are you enjoying it; or not! Do you feel you’re stuck or on the wrong track. To follow your calling, is to follow your passion. Of course in order to follow your passion, you need to know where to find it. YOUR calling, YOUR passion will change as you move through life, and this is good because it means you’re growing.
So your first step is to submit and accept you do have a calling in some way that’s unique only to you, and this calling is a positive aspect in your life; it’s a passion you can follow. Know in your heart that this passion will allow you to live a much happier, more fulfilled life. You will be happier because you are being true to yourself and to that part of you that’s not tied to the ego that’s usually in control.
We talked sometime ago about believing, about knowing that if you truly believe - these things will happen to you. Science lets us down badly here, because it say’s ‘sorry, we can’t prove this, so it obviously doesn’t exist, it cannot happen!’ But when you truly believe, and in this case, when you truly believe you have a calling, there is that part of yourself that exists and begins to connect at a very deep level of your consciousness, bringing together those people and events necessary; leading you to the understanding you need and the circumstances you desire.
To understand the mere fact that you have a calling, and YOU recognise your need to follow it is an incredibly able and positive first step. Next you need to draw on your inner wisdom and subconscious mind to guide you. This will eventually lead you to your passion, a full understanding of your true calling.
You can do this by constantly telling yourself that you do know what you want, and that you’re already following it.
Ok, now let’s slow down a bit, because it’s at about at this point I can hear you say, ‘hang on - a moment ago he was going to tell me how I was going to find my true calling, and now he’s saying I already know what it is. I think I’II turn the page and get out of here, this guy’s wasting my time’.
Well before you do, let me say again it’s about the power of believing. To believe you have a true calling – whatever it may be, is enough for the subconscious mind to go on! Your subconscious mind will take whatever your true calling is and manifest it into reality. At this point we still don’t know what it is necessarily, but somewhere in those deep recesses of your subconscious mind is the answer.
Keep telling your mind you know what your calling and your passion is, let it get to work, let it create opportunities for you that lead you to your true calling, your true passion.
Now you may be saying one of two things. 1. This is a bit weird for me, or 2. Ok, let’s go with it and hear this out. Either way, look at it like this, everything begins with a thought; the greatest achievements of mankind began with a single thought; you are where you are today because of each and every thought you have ever had. This is all you are requesting from your own subconscious mind, that single thought to surface that provides the pathway to your passion, your calling in life.
These subconscious thoughts lead you to opportunities you might normally have missed. Sometimes they may be just simple signs that seem too far off the beaten track, or sounded at first to be completely ridiculous; but it’s your subconscious switching you on to a different frequency of thinking, one at first you’re unaccustomed too. However by following these signs, these opportunities, you’ll find that some of them will fall into place easily for you, you begin to enjoy the process, they excite you.
Get the old thinking cap on too, think about those things you really enjoy, don’t worry if you think it’s not worth pursuing because you can’t make money from it. Think about what you would do if you had a day off a week to do whatever you really wanted.
You know when you ‘really' enjoy doing something, things start to come together for you, again – weird but very true. And as you continue doing the things you enjoy you’ll find more and more joy in many other activities you hadn’t even thought of in the beginning.
When YOU follow your passion, when YOU do what you enjoy – when YOU are on the right path and doing what YOU really want, everything in your life begins to flow naturally again. It does this because you’ve opened yourself to greater possibilities, and you are doing things more for the fun of it, rather than letting your ego dominate, you are no longer doing things just to impress others, you are doing them for yourself, you are living your true calling.
